Getting Started

Quickstart

A first session from signup to a live audience segment and a first campaign. Each step names the screen you will be on, so you can follow along in the product rather than reading ahead.

1. Create your account

Sign up, verify your email address, and log in. You land on the Dashboard. Until a brand exists, most screens have nothing to show — creating one is the next step, and screens that need a brand will say so.

2. Create your Brand Space

Open the brand selector in the header and choose Create New Brand. That opens the brand-onboarding wizard, which is five steps:

  1. Basic Info — brand name and logo. The name is required.
  2. Industry — industry and company size, both required. These seed how En Garde reads your category.
  3. Contact — contact details for the brand.
  4. Settings — preferences for the new Brand Space.
  5. Confirm — review, then create.

When it finishes, the new brand becomes your selected Brand Space and the rest of the platform scopes to it. Visit Brand Space in the sidebar to add assets under Brand Assets, or adjust details under Brand Management.

3. Connect a data source

Go to Integrations and connect at least one source before you build segments. Commerce and payment connections supply purchase history; email and ad connections supply engagement. Connections belong to the Brand Space you are in, not to your login, so each brand connects its own accounts. Authorize on the provider's consent screen and you are returned to En Garde.

Skipping this step is the most common reason a first segment comes back nearly empty. See Integrations for what each category supplies.

4. Build your first segment

Open Audience and choose Create Segment:

  1. Name the segment and describe it, so the rest of the team knows what it is for.
  2. Pick a type: Behavioral, Demographic, Purchase History, Engagement, Lifecycle Stage, or Customer Value. The type determines which criteria you can choose from next.
  3. Select at least one criterion. A name, a type, and one criterion are the minimum En Garde will accept.
  4. Optionally narrow by date range (last 7, 30, or 90 days, or last year) and by minimum activity.
  5. Review the summary and create.

Segment generation runs as a background job, so the segment does not appear instantly. When it does, it shows a size, an active or inactive status, and a growth rate. The other Audience tabs — Customer Profiles, Demographics, Behavior, Interests, and Tracking Setup — are worth a look at this point to sanity-check the data underneath. Note that the sum of all segment sizes counts people more than once; the unique audience count is shown separately.

5. Act on it

With a segment in hand there are two natural next moves, and you can do both:

  • Sync it out. If you connected Klaviyo, use Sync to Klaviyo on the segment and either create a new list or update an existing one. The send happens in Klaviyo; its performance comes back into En Garde.
  • Launch from here. Open Campaign Manager and build a campaign against the segment. If your workspace requires approval, the campaign goes to an approval queue rather than live — check the Approvals tab on the Campaigns screen or the Approval Queue.
  • Make the creative. Content Studio is where assets are written and tracked from draft to in review, scheduled, and published. Funnels is where you sequence them into a staged path if the campaign is more than a single push.

6. Bring in your team

In Team Management, invite people by email and give each one a role: Owner, Admin, Editor, or Viewer. Editors can create and edit campaigns and content but cannot change settings or manage the team; Viewers are read-only. If you run more than one brand, a member can also be assigned per brand, with a different role on each.

7. Then automate

Once you have done a cycle by hand, the Agent Workflows group is worth opening. Agent Suite is the canvas where workflows are built, My Agents lists everything you can trigger, Agent Inbox is where agents come back to you for a decision, and Activity is the run log. Start by reading Agent Workflows rather than building immediately — the model is easier to follow once the vocabulary in Core Concepts is familiar.
