Funnels
A funnel is the journey a person actually walks through — the ad they see, the page they land on, the email that follows, the call that closes. Campaigns decide what to spend and where; funnels describe the path, step by step, and report where people fall out of it.
The three-level model: funnel, stage, step
A funnel belongs to a Brand Space and normally to one campaign. It has a type — custom, lead generation, ecommerce, webinar, or SaaS trial — and it records how it was created: imported, AI generated, from a competitor analysis, or from a template. It holds a visual layout of nodes and edges, a status of draft, active, paused, completed, or archived, and a cached performance summary with total conversions, total revenue, and an overall conversion rate.
A stage is a phase of the journey, typed as awareness, consideration, decision, action, or retention, with a display order. Stages carry objectives, success criteria, the content types and channels they use, entry and exit conditions, an expected duration in days, and their own metrics: entries, exits, conversions, conversion rate, and average time in stage.
A step is a concrete thing inside a stage, typed as landing page, email, ad, webinar, call, content, or automation. A step names its channel and platform, can point at a content asset, can be marked automated with trigger conditions and a workflow to run, and tracks impressions, clicks, conversions, conversion rate, and cost per conversion.
How it works
- Open Funnels. The page has two tabs, Funnels and Funnel Templates, and four actions in the header: Create with Ennie AI, Import from Campaigns, Reuse Funnel, and Export Data.
- Start a funnel one of four ways — generate it with Ennie AI, build it from a template, import from campaign data you already have, or produce one from a competitor analysis. The method is stored on the funnel, so you can always see where a funnel came from.
- Lay out the stages on the funnel canvas and add steps within them. The steps sidebar lists each step in order, and the step configuration panel is where you set its type, channel, platform, and automation behaviour.
- For a landing page step, open the page editor at that step. It is a drag-and-drop builder — you compose the page visually and save it back onto the step, so the page and the funnel position stay together instead of living in a separate website tool.
- Publish the funnel. A published funnel is served on a public address of the form /f/ plus its slug, with no login required, rendering the steps in sequence and capturing form submissions back into the funnel. Funnels keep versions, and can be unpublished.
- Read the results per stage and per step. Because metrics live at both levels, a funnel tells you which stage leaks and which specific step inside it is responsible.
Templates
A funnel template is a saved structure with a category and an industry, a preview image, and usage signals: how many times it has been used, its average conversion rate, and an average rating. Templates can be public or private, some are marked featured, and some require a particular subscription tier before you can use them.
Creating a funnel from a template copies the structure into your Brand Space as a new funnel — editing it afterwards does not change the template, and the template is not updated when you improve your copy of it.
Importing existing campaigns
Import from Campaigns creates a campaign space — an asset library for work you already ran elsewhere. You choose the platform (Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, X, or TikTok), give the campaign a name and description, pick an objective from the platform-style list (brand awareness, reach, traffic, engagement, app installs, video views, lead generation, conversions, catalog sales), and set a budget and date range. You can mark the import as a template for reuse.
Once the campaign space exists you upload its assets. There is also a connect option that starts the OAuth flow for an advertising platform, but automatic import of campaigns and assets over the platform API is not available yet — today the asset upload is the manual path, and the imported material becomes source content for funnel steps.
How funnels connect to campaigns, agents, and integrations
A funnel points at the campaign it serves, and the campaign detail page carries a Funnel tab that opens it. The practical division: change the budget, schedule, or approval path on the campaign; change the path a person walks on the funnel.
Funnels are also where agent recommendations show up in context. Recommendations are attached to a funnel, and often to a specific stage or step, and are typed by the kind of agent that produced them — SEO, content, paid ads, audience intelligence, funnel optimizer. Each carries a rationale, an estimated impact, a confidence score, a priority, and a difficulty, and moves through pending, reviewing, accepted, rejected, or implemented. They are suggestions with a review state, not silent edits.
Steps marked as automation can hand off to a workflow, which is the seam between a funnel and Agent Workflows. Ad and email steps depend on the platforms authorized in Integrations for this Brand Space.
A worked example
A B2B software brand wants trial signups. They start a SaaS trial funnel from a template and get four stages: awareness, consideration, decision, and retention.
In awareness they add an ad step on LinkedIn. In consideration, a landing page step, built in the page editor and published at a public funnel address, plus a content step for a case study. In decision, an email step and a call step. In retention, an automation step wired to a workflow that triggers when a trial reaches day seven.
After two weeks the stage metrics show consideration converting well and decision leaking. Step-level numbers narrow it further: the email step has a high click rate but the call step has almost no bookings. That is a scheduling problem, not a messaging one — so they change the call step rather than rewriting the campaign. A funnel optimizer recommendation on the same step is accepted and marked implemented, leaving a record of why the funnel changed.
Things to know
- Funnels are scoped to a Brand Space, and a funnel is normally tied to a single campaign rather than shared across several.
- Stage and step metrics are cached rollups. They are for spotting where the journey leaks; multi-touch credit across channels belongs in Attribution.
- Published funnel pages are public by design — anything on a step page is visible to anyone with the address.
- Automatic campaign import over an advertising platform API is not available yet. Assets are uploaded to a campaign space manually.
- Some funnel templates are gated by subscription tier and will not be usable on every plan.
- Agent recommendations never apply themselves. Nothing changes in a funnel until someone accepts and implements the suggestion.
